Thank you.

As we look around us today we observe many leaders not finishing well. The causes vary – an under-developed spiritual life, not relating well with others, sexual and financial misconduct, operating out of pride instead of humility, not knowing how to hear from God and walk in obedience, untended emotional wounds that cause havoc, etc. There is also a shortage of mentors and a lack of understanding of the ways of God from the scriptures which apply to every godly man or woman regardless of where they have been appointed to serve.

A Leadership Journey (ALJ) is a 45-week leadership mentoring opportunity for current and emerging leaders from all walks of life. Since its inception in 2003, this specialized course has included godly men and women, aged twenty to sixty, representing the Dozen Domains. The desire to grow personally as a leader, to learn how to effectively lead out of godly principles and to understand how to live life to finish well has drawn many ministry and marketplace leaders to participate. See their endorsements on our website.

The Core Components

  • A Leader’s Life – the initial months are spent aligning the heart, values and personal priorities of the leader to the ways of God.

  • Leading a Focused Life

Leading a Focused Life – the middle months are aimed at gaining perspective on how God has sovereignty developed the leader and how the leader can cooperate with God in various ‘seasons of life.’ (This 5 month component of the ALJ course is available for a standalone leadership upgrade opportunity from April 17 – August 31, 2009. More info here.)

  • Leadership Issues – the final months take a practical look at key leadership issues within one’s sphere through God’s set of lenses

A Five-Fold Approach

  • Downloads – you will have access from wherever you live and serve to download over 70 insightful and practical 30-minute teachings.

  • Readings / Reflections – select books and articles to glean wisdom.

  • ALJ Module – April 16-19, 2009 held in Nashville, TN

  • Pod Calls – a monthly conference call with one of ALJ’s team leaders for discussion and real life application. You participate in an ALJ Pod in one of the following three ways:

    - Relationally – with friends going through ALJ together
    - Regionally – with people participating from the same region
(plus our local Nashville Pod meets 2nd Tuesday evening of each month)
    - Organizationally – with members of the same organization

  • ALJ Project – a personal life project in the Leading a Focused Life component that provides invaluable life and leadership perspective.

"Dave Buehring, a friend of more than 30 years, is a man of God who disciples leaders. I applaud his experience, skill, and character personally. I encourage you to become a better leader by learning the principles and practices as he imparts them through A Leadership Journey."
- Loren Cunningham, Co-Founder of Youth With A Mission

Some Comments from Past Participants

A Leadership Journey has impacted me profoundly.  Finally, a training that focuses less on what leaders do and more on how they are developed.  It was one of the most important time investments I've ever made.
L. Gabriel Smith, CEO, Legacy Learning Systems

I can't thank you enough for the A Leadership Journey class. What an impact it has had on my life to know that I can walk in and encourage Godly leadership and strive to finish well, not only in ministry but in the marketplace as well.
Deborah McMillan, Co-Owner & Executive Assistant, B.R. McMillan & Assoc., Inc.

A Leadership Journey has challenged me to view my life from a perspective of faith, looking back on what God has done so that I can see more clearly what He is building in and through me.  It has also helped me understand how better to lead with the heart of Jesus; to view leadership as the process of laying my life down for others so that they can take hold of God.
Caleb Phillips, Software Developer

“Thank you for being true as a leader and as a mentor. A Leadership Journey has had a significant impact on my own view of leadership – especially where it counts the most – in the home as a husband and father. May your life pursuit of finishing well be multiplied many times over as you continue to invest your life in others.”
Richard Rose, Attorney

"Dave Buehring is an incredibly gifted and powerful teacher and guide. A Leadership Journey provided me with inspirational teaching, practical tools, support systems and motivation and encouragement to help me prayerfully consider and evaluate my career and life to ensure that I most effectively use my God-given skills and talents and that I finish well."
Michelle Conn, International Justice Mission

“This class has taught me how to purposely live with the end in sight and that leadership is not a destination but a journey. This class is a MUST if you want to better yourself and better understand your destiny in all spheres of life”.
John R Browning III, President, Pro-Care

The Leadership Journey has been an invaluable experience for me not only as a leader in my workplace but more importantly has taught me how to apply strong leadership principles to my life as a husband and a father.  The leadership principles learned during A Leadership Journey are timeless principles that will serve as a plumb line for the remainder of my journey, one that I plan to finish well
Dan Wothke, Media Director

“You really have been a coach to all of us this year. Grappling with this material and applying it to my life – first as a wife and mother, and then in the marketplace, has been the main focus of my growth this year. It was time well spent. Your words landed on soil within the hearts of those you have mentored this year – especially me. Thank you for seeing things in me that perhaps I had not seen myself and for helping to shape my leadership even as I am just beginning to stretch my wings! I am not exaggerating when I say that my time spent with you and this material will impact generations of our family line.”
Paris Goodyear-Brown, Educator and Child Therapist

A Leadership Journey has been an encouraging adventure.  As an almost 50 year female, who has been primarily a stay at home wife and mom, I’ve been greatly encouraged to realize that my best and most fruitful years are yet ahead!
Cindi Whitman, Pastoral Administrator

“Thanks for the legacy and for encouraging us as leaders to finish well. I have been inspired, strengthened, and encouraged through the teaching that has taken place over the last ten months. I have also been reminded that each of us has a unique deposit that we are to share with others. Your faithfulness to share yours has helped me see more clearly how I can reflect mine to others.”
Carl Dobbins, Businessman

“Since the moment I received your invitation to be a part of A Leadership Journey, this “rookie pastor” has been enthused and encouraged. The journey went well beyond my expectation, and put in to place desperately needed pieces to my newfound ministry puzzle. The ‘take-aways’ have been tremendous, the teachings rich, and the quality of character that you have exemplified has been consistent to the unique crew that you have chosen to mentor. I truly want to say thank you for your investment.”
Enoch Lankford, Senior Pastor

“You have earned the right to speak into my life and my family. I honor your dedication, your heart for people, and your love for your calling. You have challenged me to press on as a leader. The weight of your words and the impact of your gift to me will never go unfinished as it passes through me to those that I have the privilege of leading.”
Todd Boe, Businessman
