What and who is this course designed for?
This 12 week course is '
Module Three' of
A Leadership Journey and designed for leaders that desire to gain a deeper understanding of how God
develops them, taking in to account one’s unique journey. In the end a personal tool (
Focused Life
Project) is created that can aid participants in cooperating with God through their personal ‘seasons of
life,’ and can be used to serve and develop current and future leaders. A formal leadership position is not
necessary to participate.
What are the core components of Module Three - Leading a Focused Life?
- Retreat – This 4 day/3 night gathering begins the Leading a Focused Life Course. The retreat will
be held March 1-4, 2012 in Nashville, TN and is a requirement for the course.
- Materials –The material contained within the course will walk participants through the process
of creating and developing their own personal time-line. This gives valuable insight on how God
shapes the life of the leader.
- March - May Connection – You will meet regularly with your ALJ Guide along in addition to a 60-90-minute scheduled conference call
hosted by Dave Buehring providing helpful group discussions along
with life application of the materials covered.
- A Focused Life Project – Dave Buehring will introduce material originated by Dr. Bobby
Clinton that will aid each participant in learning how God develops a leader over the course of a
lifetime. Participants will use what they have learned during this course to create a personal life
and leadership timeline with components that highlight invaluable life and leadership
perspectives and lessons. This project assists leaders to better understand and cooperate with
God as He develops their life. This leadership project is due on May 31, 2012.
What is the retreat for?
This retreat is designed to be a workshop discussing the nine components of Leading a Focused Life. Held March 1-4, 2012 at Camp Garner Creek in Dickson, TN just outside of Nashville. Participants will arrive in the afternoon on Thursday for
the 4:00 PM start time and will depart following the last session at 11:00 AM on Sunday morning.
What does the retreat include?
- Community Connection – Relationship is a key to successful leadership. This retreat will
allow participants to connect more personally with other leaders participating in the course.
- In-Depth Teaching – Dave Buehring a will teach material originated by Bobby Clinton that will
lay a foundation for Leading a Focused Life.
- Workshop – Time is built in to begin working on and processing the components of your personal timeline.
- Meals, Lodging and Materials – will be provided for each participant. Each participant is
responsible to cover their own ground and air transportation for this event.
What is a Leadership Pod?
It is a group of leaders that you will be relating to throughout the course. Each Pod will conference
together each month for the purpose of learning and connecting.
if you are an individual taking this Module as a stand alone course you will be connected to one of these types of Leadership Pods.
- Regional Pod– A group defined by the national region they live in. (east/west/north/south)
- Relational Pod – A local/national group of leaders from the sam organization OR of friends going through Leading a Focused Life together.
- Domain Pod – A group of participants from one of the Dozen Domains
What is a Pod Call?
A Pod Call is a monthly conference call with Dave Buehring and ALJ Guides. Each participant
is given a 1-800 number, along with a participant’s code, for calls within the United States and
Canada. If you choose to use a cell phone, you will be responsible for
your personal minute’s usage.
What material is provided?
You will receive your Focused Life Notebook and all printed material at the March module. You will
also receive weekly e-mails that include MP3 audio links and details that will keep you on course.
Participants can listen to the audio files online, save them to a CD, or play them on their iPod.
How much time do I need to schedule in my week for course work?
Because the content is equal to a Masters-level course, please schedule four (4-6) hours per week for
teaching and reading assignments. Additional time will be needed for your Leadership Pod.
What does the course cost?
$695 per/person – there are two payment options:
- Pay in full by check or credit card through Pay Pal.
- Non-refundable registration fee followed by equal monthly payments.
The only additional costs to you are your air and ground transportation for the March Retreat.
